SUCCESS AND FAILURE

(SUCCESS AND FAILURE)

CHOOSE ONE!

I know that any student who sees this topic may be tempted to ask, why will I be asking such a question, when I should be aware that our wishes and aspirations in life is all about success?’ Yes! Everybody wants to succeed some want to succeed in business and marriage, others want success in their jobs, career and other endeavours of life. While every student desires or wishes to attain academic excellence, no one wants to fail or identify with failure. But let me quickly say this, success does not come by wishing.

As a student, there are principles you must apply to get the success you so desire, these principles cannot be manipulated. If you apply them, you are sure to get success and if you neglect them, it may be difficult to get the success you so desire. I know that another reader may be tempted to ask again, ‘Why should I be emphasizing failure when God has told us in His word that we shall be the head and not the tail? Which means that we have been chosen to lead the rest. He also told us that we are the light of the world. But let me ask you; are you leaving up to these words? Can you as a Christian Student look at an unbelieving student in the face and tell him/her that you are the light of the world without him/her mocking you?

Now, I ask you this question, what then is topping you from being the head or the light of the world? I think the problem we believers have is “Faith without works”. We have faith that we are the head but we do not work towards being the head and faith without works we all know is dead. We must think and ask like the head. Being the head is not a small responsibility; being the light is also not a small task. Do you know that the world is actually waiting for your manifestation because they know it’s no small job and it can be achieved only by the true sons of the Most High God?

I believe you are now aware of the reason why you should succeed as you cannot afford to fail and live below this high calling of greatness unlimited. We are heirs to His throne and our God is not a God of mediocrity, so, nothing of such should be found around us.

Back to our subject, if you hate failure and wish to succeed as a student, then you must be eager to follow the tips enumerated below:

v  TAKE NOTES EFFECTIVELY: No matter how intelligent or smart you are, always remember the Chinese proverb which states that a short pen is better than a long memory. As a student, you need a pen and jotter at every moment because they are useful and effective for note-taking. Nothing helps you better as a student than the notes taken in your own words because you would remember and understand them better when you are reading.

v  IMBIBE A READING HABIT: If you must win or be the light of the world then you should be ready to read. But many students are fond of giving flimsy excuses when it comes to reading. Know that if you cannot read then you cannot lead because readers are leaders. You earn the respect of your lecturers or teachers when during exams you are able to intelligently put down all you were taught in class. By so doing, you are on your way to becoming the light of the world.

v  BALANCE YOUR LIFE: The fact that you want to succeed academically should not make you spend all your time reading and you should also not spend all your time for yourself; your health, looks, friends and above all you must have personal time with God who is the giver of true success

v  KNOW YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE: this what gives you a reason to want to lean something and excel in it. If what your are studying will not reflect or affect the purpose of your existence. I advise you to leave and go find something that does because that might just be the reason for poor performance.

v  DEAL WITH PERSONAL ISSUES: consciously or unconsciously, our personal life affects everything we do . if you have a sick sibling or other personal challenges, they will definitely affect your studies. So I advise you to always tackle personal issues before delving into reading because such issues are capable of disrupting your studies.

Always remember that God is all we need to succeed. We may read all the books on earth and judiciously follow the steps above, but if God is not involved, it is zero because He is the one who opens the mind of our understanding. So we must stay connected to Him. Faith is actually needed to succeed in life but faith without works is dead, so while you are applying faith, also remember to work alongside. By doing so, failure will hate you. Now that you’ve perused this article, I believe you now have success mentality. So when you finally succeed please don’t fail to share the secrets with others and as you do, God will continually enlarge your coast.
